I REALIZE THE WEEK IS HALFWAY OVER, BUT...

I wanted to tell you guys a little about my last weekend...

Last weekend was much like my other ones. Capoeira class was not held at AGAPE, but nearby at Tellefson Park in Culver City. Here's a video of the rodinha at the end of class.

The guys who were playing was our teacher Charles Williams, and one of our classmates, Cheyenne Dunbar.

And on Sunday, Class was in Griffith park...

And here's the class picture. I'd normally put in the picture montage, but I don't like repeating myself, and I wanted to show you the people who were actually there that day, and to show you that I FINALLY got some classmates, dammit!!!

Most of my classes with Charles in the park are 1 on 1, which I really appreciate, but there's a different energy when training with classments. Those will more skills will push you to learn more and get better, and with those first starting classes, you see where you were when you started, which gives you the incentive to help them get better.

It's great to have cool people in class that are with you, having the same trials and tribulations, sweating, putting in WORK to learn this art.

It's also great seeing each other outside of class, socializing, eating together, like we sometimes do after class.

Yes, bonds are created that are very hard to break.

I would also like to say that I learned something new last weekend. As to what I learned, well, that's for me to know, and for you not to know.

Anyway, I would like to thank all of you out there who come out to the park to share your energy, your joy, your passion, and your love of Capoeira with us:

Now, I'm gonna end this blog with my teacher playing some capoeira on the mountain, with the most beautiful song in the whole, entire world, playing in the background.

If any of you out there are interested in learning Capoeira, Mr williams teaches at THE AGAPE CENTER @ 5700 Buckingham Parkway Culver City, CA 90230 on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30, and on Sundays, he teaches at Griffith Park, across the street from the golf course, near the Greek Theatre, on Vermont Canyon Road going up towards the Observatory.

Come join us!

TOP OF THE MORNING TO YOU, FAM!!! (Even though it's late afternoon)

Wassup Family!

If you're wondering why I posted the massage poster up there, well, I had another amazing massage with Aja last Saturday. Now as you may know from reading this blog, I met Aja on New Year's day this year at a roda hosted by Jelani Ticum Lateef and his group, JOGO DE CINTURA.

In fact,I saw Jelani that day. We talked a little bit about a event he was teaching a workshop, the CONNECTION SHOWCASE, which is on the 23rd. I'm gonna be there, I'm not gonna miss a chance to train with Jelani, or buy some art afterwards.

O.K., back to Aja.

Whenever I get a massage with Aja, she gives me one with HOT STONES... and it's Amazing!!!

You lose all sense of time on that massage table, and for me, it's almost like going into another world. Sometimes there's pain, like when she finds a trigger point. Other times, it's almost like I'm being tickled when she's massaging me.

But none of those feelings last for too long.

And then, her sweet gentle voice brings me back from paradise, as she tells me she's done with the massage, and it takes me a little while for me to come back into my own body.

In addition to the hot stones, she offers some other types of massages. If any of you out there want to experience the healing power of massage, along with a little yoga and Tarot, I urge you to hit her up.

Click HERE to go to her Facebook page, and be sure to tell her I sent you.

And when you decide to have one of her massages, I GUARANTEE, you'll be in for a wonderful experience.

And afterr the massage, I went home.

Now on Sunday, was another great capoeira class at Griffith Park.

Time to post the montage...

This time though, Charles wasn't there. This was his week to go to school, so our friend and brother TOPE came to teach. He doesn't like taking pictures, but his picture is somewhere above.

Now where charles challenges my physical limits, and pushes me to go beyond them, Tope pushes the same way mentally. Sure, I still get tired in his classes, but it's much more in my head than in my body.

And after training, we talked a lot about various philosophical, religious, and practical subjects revolving around Capoeira.

Now later this month, on the 24th, is the 5 YEAR PIETER ANNIVERSARY RODA, hosted by Capoeira Angoleiros Los Angeles, a great group of people totally dedicated to Capoeira Angola.

If any of you are in the L.A. area and want to know more about Capoeira Angola, we are in Griffith Park every Sunday Afternoon from 12p.m. to 3p.m., and on Saturdays at The AGAPE INTERNATIONAL SPIRITUAL CENTER from 12p.m. to 1:30p.m.

Now I'm gonna end this blog with some songs from the album BALI from the group Jalan-Jalan.

Aja played this album during my massage.

I hope Y'all enjoy it.
