HAPPY SATURDAY!!!

GOOD MORNING, FAMILY!!!

Well, here we are, starting another weekend. And it promises to be another awesome one!

Today, I'm going over to a friend's house to watch the very HIGHLY ANTICIPATED boxing match between Mayweather and Pacquiau...

The way they're hyping up this fight, I hope it goes down as one of the great ones.

As Always, I started my Saturday with Capoeira class at The Agape International Spiritual Center. There, Charles gave us a really good lesson on Capoeira Music.

Music is a very important part of capoeira. A Capoeira player not only has to learn to fight, but he must also learn to sing, and play several different instruments, especially in capoeira angola.

Here's an overview of the instruments played in Capoeira:

And here's how it sounds when you put them all together:

I'll go more in depth about the music at a later date.

After class, I planned to go to the Brewery Artwalk and Open Studios in the Lincoln Heights section of Los Angeles, but before that, I took a "detour", and went out to Hollywood & Highland, and saw this real cool Texas tourism event going on. I only took 2 pictures because I was very apprehensive about taking pictures, but they had games, trivia, etc.

It was pretty fun.

Anyway, from hollywood, I went to the artwalk.

Here's some photos I took over there...

It was really cool up there, that is, until it started raining... That's when I knew it was time to go.

>
Now on Sunday, it was back to Agape, because The Capoeira Collective had a Capoeira demonstration in the parking lot. The purpose was to let people learn more about the Capoeira classes, and what is taught there, and hopefully get more people interested in joining the class. I don't have any pictures of us playing capoeira, but here's some pictures of the drum circle that followed:

And yes, I danced too, but you don't any pictures of that either, because I can't dance and take photos at the same time. Anyway this was one of the best times I ever had, and I hope we more things like this in the future.

Now, an interesting thing happened to me on the way home...

At my last bus stop, I noticed that they blocked off a few streets, so I went over to check out why...

And I found myself right in the middle of a free concert! There were lots of vendors, beautiful mariachi and Norteno music, crowds of happy people... What a wonderful way to wait for the bus!!!

I wish I could have stayed longer, but I only stayed about a half an hour or so, because like I said, I was waiting for the bus, and I wanted to go home.

Well, that's how my last weekend went, I hope this one goes just as great!

Now, I'm gonna end this blog with the most beautiful song in the whole, entire world.

A BIRTHDAY MESSAGE TO MY TEACHER...

Hi Guys,

Say hello to WILLIAM SANDERS.

He is the founder and Grandmaster of an amazing martial art called PENCAK SILAT PUKULAN CIMANDE PUSAKA SANDERS (PCPS for short). It is a modern form of Pencak Silat which ia a variation of an old style of Pencak Silat named CIMANDE.

PCPS Silat is a martial art that works in all ranges. It includes fighting while in a grounded position, grappling, fighting multiple opponents, the use of several unique edged and impact weapons, unique animal styles, and a whole system of meditation and metaphysical development which includes internal energy development exercises, and many spiritual techniques designed to draw the four elements (water, earth, fire, air) into the body for various combative and spiritual purposes. Here is Guru Peterson Menezes demonstrating some aspects of this art.

Now there aren't many students of PCPS Pencak Silat compared to other silat systems, but there are students of this art around the world:

Pendekar William Sanders began his training in the Indonesian martial arts in 1972 from GURU JOHN MALTER, a top student of one of, if not THE first authenic Indonesian martial art teachers to teach in America, Guru Willy Wetzel.

After studying for many years with Guru Malterer, Pendekar Sanders began a quest to find and study with many top instructors in Pencak Silat, especially Cimande. This eventually led to a student, teacher, and friendship with Pendekar SURYADI "EDDIE" JAFRI, the then official representative to the USA from the Indonesian Martial Art Association(I.P.S.I)

Pendekar Jafri eventually invited Pendekar Sanders to Indonesia to have his art refined, and study with the best available physical and spiritual teachers of silat in the villages of West Java. Here, Pendekar Sanders art and skill were tested, examined, and refined to the ultimate recognition, an appointment by the highly respected PERSATUAN PENDEKAR PERSILATEN SENI BUDAYA BANTEN INDONESIA, as Pendekar.

Since he has recieved the title of Pendekar, he has been continuously developing, researching, and refining his art.

And He's never stopped being a student, learning Italian knife fighting from DON VITO QUATTROCCHI, as well as traditional IRISH STICK FIGHTING.

Today is Pendekar Sanders' Birthday. I know that all of us who are his students feel the same way I do. However, I have a blog to express myself with.

So...

Happy Birthday Pendekar Sanders! I hope you have the best birthday ever, and wish you Health, Happiness, and many more birthdays to come!!!

I KNOW, I SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS LAST WEEK...

But you know, I've been lazy with making blogs lately. But oh well...

Last Thursday, I went out to Hollywood to attend FREEDOM OF SPEECH THURSDAYS, an open mic run by my capoeira teacher and friend, Charles Williams.

Now I get off on HOLLYWOOD & WESTERN Station a couple of blocks away from the event, and find a little Farmer's Market! I WILL be buying something there in the near future.

And here we are at the event. Here's Charles and company setting up...

...And, here's the performers signing up.

Now this guy wasn't a performer, he just wanted us to get a picture of him looking natural behind the mike. I think he looks natural, don't you?

Now tonight's event was hosted by TRAN SE, one of the amazing crew of people who help Charles run the event:

And, he's a really good magician, who performed later that night:

Now this video wasn't made last week, but he did perform a similar trick.

And here's some pictures of some of the other performers that came out:

Now some of the acts were very good, and some, well... weren't. But that's what I think is part of what this open mic is all about. People come in, and showcase their talents. Sometimes they shine, and sometimes... they need a little work, but it's all good.

But anyway, if you want to see ALL the acts that went up that night, click HERE, and watch it on USTREAM.

Tonight, FOST is having their 3RD YEAR ANNIVERSARY, and I'm gonna be there to watch, and god willing, get some pictures and post them up for you all.

Well, after I go to this month's ART WALK in downtown L.A.

HAPPY EASTER!!

Wassup Family! Yes today is easter. I'm reposting this post I made about this holiday a few years back, becuase I'm about to go out, and I don't have time to make a long, new detailed video.

So, enjoy your holiday, and I'll be back in the next few days to tell you how things went.

Well, maybe.

Does anybody know the true meaning of Easter? Well, I didn't until I looked around google and read a few articles about it. This particular article on the meaning of easter was found at www.everythingeasier.com

The Meaning of Easter

by Kristen Machut

When you think of Easter, you probably think of the Easter Bunny, colored eggs and lots of candy... but to Christians around the world it is much, much more. Easter is the most important Christian holiday of the year.

Easter Day is the day Christians remember Jesus rising from the dead. After his brutal crucifixion, a large stone was rolled over his tomb. But shortly after his death when followers went back to honor Jesus, the stone had mysteriously been moved and only the cloth that wrapped Jesus' body was laying there. As the story goes, Jesus' body was no longer in the tomb and he had in fact risen from his death in order to save us all. An angel nearby this tomb told his followers of the miracle that had taken place.

The resurrection, as described in the Bible, means that at the very moment Jesus rose from the dead, was the very moment we would be given everlasting life. Christians would now receive new life after death. The Easter holiday celebrates this belief. Easter is therefore the last day celebrated during a 40 day Easter season.

The season begins with Lent, a 40-day period before Easter Sunday. During Lent, Christians prepare for Easter. Lent is considered a time for penance, a time to show sorrow for sins and to seek forgiveness.

One way many Christians show their sorrow is by fasting, which limits the kinds and amounts of food that are eaten. Christians may also give something up during this 40 week period as patronage to the suffering of Jesus. While not all Christians fast during Lent, those that do pattern their behavior after Jesus who prayed and fasted in the wilderness before his death on the cross.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and most churches hold specials services in the evening. At many of those services ashes are placed on the foreheads of worshipers to remind them to have a humble spirit. Lent continues until Holy Week, which is the final week of Lent and recalls the events leading up to Jesus' sacrifce and ultimate death, a death he freely accepted.

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, which celebrates the story of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, where people spread palm branches and clothing before him. Good Friday is the day Jesus died on the cross and many believe it happened between the hours of 12 noon and 3pm. Many churches hold services during this time to reflect on the last three hours of darkness while Jesus suffered on the cross.

On Easter Sunday Jesus' resurrection is celebrated. Outdoor Easter services sometimes take place at sunrise to celebrate Jesus' resurrection. Just as Jesus rose from the dead, Christians believe they too will rise from the dead and ascend into Heaven. It's important to note that Easter is not a time to dwell on death and sorrow, but rather the fact that Jesus did rise just as prophesized in the Holy Bible. This miracle of renewed life has given Christians hope, faith and love since they know Jesus died willingly in order to save the human race.

Easter is also closely associated with the season of Spring. The new plant life that appears in spring symbolizes the new life Christians gain because of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. Easter is also considered a day of "white" because newly baptized church members wear white clothes at Easter observances.

Now, on that note, I'm going to post up this week's Sunday school video here. Now personally, I think that Jesus Christ being portrayed this way is just wrong... but I'm posting it here because all too many bible freaks and Right-Wing "christians" tend to portray Jesus Christ THIS WAY to the world, although they like to preach to everyone that jesus is a god of love and mercy, the prince of peace, etc.

O.K.

Now, in conclusion, I'm posting my REAL sunday school video on the Jesus Resurrection, followed by a couple of easter day poems...

Easter Holiday

Easter holiday, is a celebration of the resurrection of Christ!
Jesus Christ, The Son of God, bled and died for us in a sacrifice.

This Spring day's celebrated, generally in the month of April.
All of the bright and pretty colors, of the Easter outfits with frills.

Women and children will wear their Easter bonnets.
In the Spring, you'll hear the various musical sonnets.

April will bring many rain showers.
That'll bring us various beautiful flowers.

One special flower for this day is the Easter Lily.
It's color is white, and yet snowy & milky.

The birds will sing their songs of praise.
As we begin to feel the warmth of the sun's rays.

As we say "Goodbye" to the winter's gloom,
The flowers and trees have already begun to bloom.

All of life's beauty, The Lord created, for us all to share.
Spring breezes begin to flow, sending fragrances through the air.

The winter's thawing will let the rivers, lakes, and streams rise and flow.
The beauty of the Earth will make us all feel aglow!

Farmers and gardeners will start to hoe.
And then they'll begin to sow.

On Sundays, we'll hear the various church bells ring.
Let's be grateful for the LORD, let's rejoice and sing.

If it wasn't for the Lord, we wouldn't have anything!

Meeting the Easter Bunny
by: Rowena Bennett

On Easter morn at early dawn
before the cocks were crowing
I met a bob-tail bunnykin
and asked where he was going.

"Tis in the house and out the house
a-tispy, tipsy-toeing,
Tis round the house
and 'bout the house a-lighlty I am going."

"But what is that of every hue
you carry in your basket?"
"Tis eggs of gold and eggs of blue;
I wonder that you ask it.

"Tis chocolate eggs and bonbon eggs
and eggs of red and gray,
For every child in every house
on bonny Easter day.

He perked his ears
and winked his eye and twitched his little nose;
He shook his tail -- what tail he had --
and stood up on his toes.

"I must be gone before the sun;
the east is growing gray;
Tis almost time for bells to chime."
-- So he hippety-hopped away.

HAPPY APRIL FOOLS' DAY!!!

That's right family, it's april fools' day.

April Fools' Day (sometimes called April Fool's Day or All Fools' Day) is celebrated every year on the first day of April as a day when people play practical jokes and hoaxes on each other. The jokes and their victims are known as "April fools". Hoax stories may be reported by the press and other media on this day and explained on subsequent days. Popular since the 19th century, the day is not a national holiday in any country, but it is well known in India, Canada, Europe, Australia, Brazil and the United States.

I'm not gonna go deep into the history, customs, etc. about this day. No, all I'm gonna do is show you this video...

GOOD EVENING, FAM!!!

DEAR DIARY:

The words below are not mine... but they are something that all of you need to read.
If you think that imagery projected of African Americans does not effect the way you think, feel, act and behave and also how other people perceive and treat you then watch this video. These images attack the subconscious. This is an interview with Dr. Huey P. Newtown (co-founder of The Black Panther Party for Self Defense), Dr. Jawanza Kunjufju, author and education consultant and Prof. Ishmael Reed.
This is an episode of KPIX-TV's "People Are Talking", examining images and challenging stereotypes of black men in American society, presented by Ann Fraser and Ross McGowan on January 15th 1988. Features discussion with members of the audience and guests Huey P. Newton, Ishmael Reed and Jawanza Kunjufu. This program was aired to honor Rev. HAPPY THURSDAY!!!

Hi Family, I'm sorry I haven't been blogging for a while... I'm gonna start up again, but in the meantime, I saw this posted on a facebook group I belong to, and I thought I'd post it here. Martial Arts, Secrecy, Intangibles, Vague Jargon, and Superfluous Palavering

Martial Arts, by its very nature, created by men, and therefore often used to manipulate those, who are searching for something outside of themselves. Essentially, anything created by another man, regardless of the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, of said man, is only relevant to those susceptible, and in search for something, which already exist, within themselves. A good communicator with an open heart, with nothing to prove, helps the individual to find that thing, which exist within, and extract it. In addition, he, or she is a steward for principles, rather than a guru, or someone, which represents himself, as a master. Whenever, someone speaks in secret code, as in “I will only divulge this much” blah, blah, blah, anyone with half a working brain should be suspicious, of such a person. In addition, when a man, professes to have “Special Knowledge” he is nothing more, than a child, living in a big fat body. Furthermore, people who speak and act in this manner, likened, to the proverbial pre-pubescent kid, who fantasizes about being a superhero. This, in itself, is quite harmless. On the other hand, visualize, a fat, sloth, who’s is constantly bullied, and treated with contemp. This is quite damaging, and can warp the poor kid’s personality. Now imagine said kid begins to train in Martial Arts.

Monster Created. The fat sloth embarks on a quest to find his calling, the intangible world, of the secretive, deadly arts of Kuntao, Arnis, Silat, Escrima, Kali, etc. The chubby Maha guru, pendekar, Tuhon, Grandmaster, of everything that exists, within, and beyond the universe, devices a plan to conquer the world. Furthermore, the fat sloth uses elaborate terms, to describe, the less than awe-inspiring techniques, which demonstrate the bland banality, of his substandard cerebellum, disguised with fluffy, Nutella devastation. Moreover, the chubby masturbator, attempts to recruit a fiefdom, of low, IQ/EQ. want to bee’s, looking for the fix, of the Deadly Nutella techniques. Furthermore, the Chub master, creates stories of, exemplified combat, which completes the enigmatic smell, of smegma, which reeks, of a cross between ass, and saliva, because the puckering makes his huge anus, stutter with the bliss of more than happy followers, with shit stained tongues.

The emotionally stumped, chubby masturbator actually has a following, which confirms the pathetic lives, which they lead. Although, sport, in boxing, wrestling, and MMA, at least fighters put everything out there, and train hard for a goal. On the other hand, the Fluffy, Nutella, Masturbator, just performs perfection, on his mindless, trained anus lappers. Furthermore, chub guru, states that the techniques are too dangerous, and can kill. Meanwhile, Chubsmegg has only been in a fight with his big brother or sister, who tormented him, after catching him dressed in drag, and masturbating to a picture of a real warrior. In any case, Martial Arts, is really the only endeavor, where a fat sloth, can attain the rank, and superficial status of Guru. Even, in a cult, the leader has charismatic attributes. In contrast, Some Martial Arts, build a substandard cult, or cult light. Do you know anyone, who is fitting of the title, Chubmastubator, Fluffy Guru, vibrating anus, with the power of the one and only truth?

And now, for your viewing pleasure, here's a video of the 25 most lethal martial arts ever created... but that's just a matter of opinion.

Published on Mar 12, 2012
Since the beginning of time people have always been striving to find the most effective ways to inflict pain on one another. What began with sticks and stones developed into extremely intricate and deadly martial arts. So, in the interest of your own well being, it would seem wise to avoid altercations with any skilled practitioners of the 25 most lethal martial arts ever created.
