SUNDAY SCHOOL VIDEO

This is one my favorite vloggers, you tube user xxxthepeachxxx, The Peach. She uploaded this video last night in response to Rick Perry's "Strong" video(Check it out HERE).

Now, in this response to rick perry's video, she made a great point that I want to address. Of course she made a lot of other great points, but I'm discussing religion here.

But before I get into that, here's a message, from JESUS CHRIST.

Now let's get started.

The founding fathers of this nation understood very well that any religion, when given political power, degenerates into the worst sort of tyranny. In order to protect us, the children of this great nation from that tyranny, they created an impenetrable wall of separation between Church and State. And Right wing christians (Or the Christian Taliban, as I like to call them) have been trying to climb over, break through, or otherwise breach that wall ever since.

Now, as the peach said in the video above, the founding fathers did this by granting freedom of religion, or the exercise thereof, prohibiting any mention of God or Jesus in the declaration of Independence or the Constitution, by NOT adopting any state religion like other countries, and by declaring that NO RELIGIOUS TEST be taken for public office.

However, this has never been enough for right wing christian types... so let us try to spell it out for them, shall we?

In 1797 the United States signed a treaty with Tripoli, which was read aloud to the Fifth Congress of the United States, which passed it unanimously. John Adams, our second President, signed it into law.

Paragraph eleven is the most important one in this discussion. It reads;

ARTICLE 11. As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion, as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen, and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Did you read that? It says "As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion"

NOT IN ANY SENSE FOUNDED ON THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION!!!

Now if that's not clear to everyone, I don't know what is.

However, this has still haven't stopped certain people from trying to turn this Democracy into a Theocracy. Don't believe me? Check this out:

But no matter what the ANYBODY says (even Chuck Norris), no matter how many fundamentalist preachers pound the pulpit on Sundays demanding that we all bow to their interpreting of what God wants us to do, They Are Wrong. This is not a Christian nation. This is the first nation founded on this fundamental principle:

Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

P.S. I may not agree with all his religious and political views, but Chuck Norris is a great man. HE DOES NOT SUCK.
