Yes, it is good to express yourself. It is good to speak up. It is also good to be silent. You do not need to voice every thought aloud. A possibility exists to keep your opinions to yourself.
You do not have to teach others the error of their ways. You may wish to improve others for their own betterment. They may not want your suggestions. Your suggestions may fall on deaf ears.
No question, sometimes it is kindness to be direct. Even so, sometimes it is right for you to speak up, and sometimes it is not your business to straighten out anyone but yourself.
Beloveds, with all love for you, you are not the conductor of the orchestra of life.
Sometimes other people have to make their mistakes, and sometimes you have to make yours.
In terms of the relative world, how do you even know what is right and what is wrong? What seems wrong could be right under certain circumstances, and what is right could also be wrong. And even when a choice seems right or seems wrong, how do you know? The story isn’t over yet. Something you said that turned out to be wrong could later prove right. Yet, in the world, who has the final say about right or wrong anyway?
Of course, you want to do the right thing. At the same time, you cannot always live up to what the world calls perfection. That, too, could be a waste of your life, to always be evaluating yourself according to perfection. Is this living life?
Every human being on Earth sees differently from you. You may agree in ten things and not in ten others. Who is to have the final say? Who is to say that you should sit in one chair and not another?
If I can give you free will, will you at least consider giving at least a modicum of free will to others as well?
Of course, you have the free will to tell anyone or everyone what to do, and, yet, why would you?
Beloveds, there is more than one way to butter bread.
You desire to be relaxed, do you agree? Then be relaxed. When you want to tell others what to say and do, you are not relaxed.
I am the first to tell you that you are responsible for everyone. Every thought of yours affects everyone else. Yet your responsibility does not extend to telling everyone else what to do and what not to do and how to do it.
And, so, if you would like to be relaxed, unwind yourself. Let go of your self-imposed authority. You may well have been imposing on yourself as well as others. Let go of the reins. Stay out of directing other people’s lives. Well, if they ask you, then it’s up to you to advise or not advise. Otherwise, generally speaking, it is not your choice to make.
You have one way of cooking, and someone else has another. If it is your privilege to cook the way you do, it is also another’s privilege to cook the way he does.
Let your friends salt their own food.
You are not meant to have the say of others. Are you to be a critic or a friend? Why would you want to be a judge of others? Perhaps to build your self-esteem. Find other ways to build your self-esteem, beloveds.
Yes, you want to know what your responsibility is. You also want to know where your responsibility ends. Be respectful of others and respectful to yourself. Free others, and free yourself.

DEAR DIARY: Well, here we are, back to MONDAY, my favorite day of the week.
We had a great capoeira class yesterday!
It was just me and charles this time, but it was still great. He started teaching me some rhythms from the berimbau, namely ANGOLA and SAO BENTO GRANDE. Note: there are 2 forms of this rhythm played, a slower rhythmn called SAO BENTO GRANDE DE ANGOLA, and SAO BENTO GRANDE DA REGIONAL, made popular by Mestre BIMBA and his students. More on him later.
During class yesterday, 2 men came to talk to us. One was a music conductor, who was impressed with us playing berimbaus (even though I still learning to play it, and still sometimes hit my fingers instead of the string). After we left, we did some movements, i.e. variations of the ginga, various negativas, Aus, etc. (If you want to know what I'm talking about, come join us, we're in Griffith Park from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.)
Anyway, halfway through the movement protion of the class the second man came by to talk to us. He was a doctor, originally from the IVORY COAST who teaches at UCLA I think it was, and we had a very interesting discussion about Africa.
After this message from Humanity Team, I'll tell you some of what we talked about.

Who can make your heart feel uneasy but you? You are the decider of your heart. Yes, you may think you have no choice. You think your heart rises and falls depending upon what happens around you or seemingly to you. You feel that your heart is a temperature gauge, as if your heart can only read what it’s given to read.
You are the interpreter of events surrounding you. You have been telling your heart when to fall and when to rise. You. You take everything to heart. You take everything that comes in on you to your heart, and you leave it there. You tell your heart to respond favorably or in a downfallen matter. You order your heart around. You tend to respond in a predicted way.
In the days when someone came to your door with a telegram -- you hadn’t even opened it yet -- your heart would be trembling with fear that you are receiving bad news. And so you cry before you are hit. You set yourself up. You set the gears. You open the hatch.
Of course, it could be bad news you are receiving, for you think in terms of good news or bad news.

You may think that is playing it safe, yet you are predicting something to hang over your head. Can you imagine playing cards and affirming the odds that you will not win? You don’t have to play cards, mind you. You can skip that. No problem. Yet life you must live. One way or another, you must live it. In that case, play your cards right. Choose a good hand.
Of course, you tend to defend discernment. In that case, then discern what is helpful to you and what is not. Play the odds of helpful rather than the odds of negativity. Brew the tea of good fortune.
When you feel pursued by trouble and are in an unhappy state, when you feel you are in a pit of despair, even then, get yourself out of the pit. Climb out. You don’t have to stay there. You do not belong there. Give your heart every opportunity to reclaim itself. Even when your heart has been run over, you don’t have to leave it there. Give it a helping hand. Give it CPR. You are responsible for your heart. Feed it. No starving it. Give it a boost. It is indeed a sad state of affairs when you let your heart stay down on the count of ten.
When your thoughts harass your heart, change your thoughts. If you have been thinking of all the things that are wrong with your life, your heart aches. Then, open your eyes to what is likeable in your life and remind your heart of what it likes and all that which sustains it. You talked your heart into defeat. Rather, you thought your heart into defeat. Now think thoughts that build up your heart. Have mercy on it. Be the uplifter of your heart. Your heart is dependent on you. It is not for you to be laissez-faire with your heart.

Now, since I can't seem to think about anything else but capoeira, I thought I'd tell you guys a little bit about the capoeira I'm learning.
and after that, I'm going down to Redondo beach to work out.
The form of Capoeira that I'm learning is, Capoeira Angola. by that, what I mean The Capoeira style taught and preserved by this man:
His name was Vincente Ferreira Pastinha. He, along with another man named Manoel dos Reis Machado (more on him later) was credited as the most responsible for kepping Capoeira alive, and preserving it into modern times.
Now I was gonna write a long essay about his life and accomplishments, but it looks like brazilian T.V., (Not to mention countless other individuals) has beaten me to it.

Anyway, I was on my friend, Head coach Ras of ATACXGYM CAPOEIRA's Google+ page, and I found 2 excellent videos that I wanted to post here. Well, not the videos exactly, but what was said in response to these videos.
The 1st video is a really nice video, a demonstration of techniques, along with a bit of philosophy.
And here's Coach Ras's comment: This video is nice; I am glad that you made it. But what you're showing is CARDIO CAPOEIRA, not real Afrikan Kipura. Cardio Capoeiristas can't fight, can't use their acrobatics in a fight, and--due to racism--does not learn what Afrikan warriors and slaves knew: the real fight of Kipura of Afrika, the real culture of Kipura of Afrika, made by the people of Afrika. Even Mestre Bimba and Mestre Pastinha learned Capoeira from African masters. Real Kipura has gun disarms:
real Kipura has techniques to throw, to chokes, tecniques to break arms, acrobatic tecniques to fight:
real Kipura has self defense techniques and sparring training:
real Kipura is used in street fights:
Real Kipura has a history of gun disarms from Afrika, later the history of Brasil, and not one Capoeira legend has EVER done Cardio Capoeira. Real warriors of Kipura/"Capoeira" ALL practice to fight. Authentic Kipura was created in Afrika, and my Black ancestors used this fight everywhere, not only in Brazil. And again in Afrika during Angola's War of Independence against Portugal, in the 1970's, when Kipura warriors rebirthed in the land of Afrika, where they were first created.
Real Afrikan Kipura uses a much better fighting stance, and focuses on self defense and fighting skills first, merged with spiritual practices and more. There is no spirituality in this technique. No expression to Orunmila, Anansi, Osun, Yemoya, Ogun, Xango...nothing.

Congratulations! I like it. I begun practicing capoeira in a wild environment. I mean: in the new-born capital of my country, Brazil. Wild, because it was the beginning of a City where came people from all over Brazil and abroad. Everybody wanted to show his best and get the best place to live. I heard about capoeira through books,friends and videotapes from Rio carnival. But the very reason for my choice was the way capoeira was presented to me. I mean: - a kind of fight, different from the other ones. I begun practising Judo as part of the school curriculum. But I felt unsatisfied. So many rules for an unpredictable result. I had to keep in good shape, always, and I thought it could act as I were using a badge, or it was written in my forehead as I was a bully or something like that..
I learned a few movements and tried to unite them in a bewildering sequence. My aim was self-defense. The " Jogo" for me, was a not so short way to finish or to put a final dot in a sentence. Then, we fought. But for living in a social way, we had again(history) to hide it during the RODAS. I always taught my friends, capoeira is dangerous as a kind of fighting, but we need to remember it is weak if we keep in mind the way we behave during rodas. We need to practice the two ways, otherwise we might be catch in a mousetrap. My respects!!!

+Adilson Alves da Silva I have repeatedly told many of my friends the same thing: Kipura is a martial art first to fight injustice. To play the roda is important, but the only reason the roda play is able to exist is because of the self defense practice and training of good quality. We must not forget the lessons of my African ancestors who taught to us the warrior art that in Brazil is called "Capoeira". We must train our minds to remember Candomble, Umbanda, Santeria, etc. We must never forget the magic of Capoeira is in our souls, and our souls minds and bodies must have the self defense practice and the spiritual practice and the social play of the rodas. Too many people want to practice in the games...the jogos. Not enough people know to practice the art of self defense of Kipura. Too many people want to forget the orixas, the Africans, the history. Without the Africans [ my family is African, and we practice Kipura many years before Kipura came to Brazil, and we practice in every country and island in the Western Hemisphere ], without the spiritual practice and knowledge and healing, without the magic of Capoeira, without the history, without the philosophy, without the joy and understanding and philosophy of the fight, the roda, the jogo, without the practice of self defense techniques of good quality Kipura...we are nothing. We are not Capoeira. Too many people want to play the jogos. Too many people think Capoeira is to dance for the roda. No. Capoeira is a powerful fight, and without practicing the self defense of good quality as our most important priority, combined with our spiritual, academic, social, healing, emotional and mental development, we are not Capoeira. Ever since Dictator Vargas attacked Capoeira, and especially since Mestres Bimba and Pastinha went to the ancestors, too many people want to play the roda without knowing the fight. No. Learn to fight and to play...but learn to fight first. As children, we know how to play. We must learn to practice our spiritual techniques, and remember the orixas...whatever religion we choose to practice, we ought to remember the orixas as the orixas are very important to the history and to the magic and to the spirit of Kipura [ Brazilians call Kipura "Capoeira" ]. I learned to fight with Kipura as a child, and I used Kipura in the dangerous streets of America many times. Many people wanted to batter people of my race because they do not want to respect Africans. Before and during the riots, there were many problems. But Kipura helped me to defeat attackers with my excellent technique speed skill power...and still to keep a smile on my face and a laugh in my heart without hate. Thank you, mano, for your kind words and your important wisdom and quality experience. I hope to talk with you often.

DEAR DIARY: Well, I get to work again today, yay! I hope it continues, but once again, I'm very grateful for this one day!
Guess what? The Downtown L.A. Artwalk is tonight! I haven't been there in 2 months. Here's some photos from the last time I was there...
I hope I see them again this time... That is, IF I'm not too tired from work to go out there. But there's one VERY GOOD REASON to go out to the Artwalk tonight, and I'll tell you all about it in a minute.

God said:
Let Us sing praise for the gift of life you have been given. I gave it to you, beloveds. I gave it to you for good reason. I sent you out to play in the world and to make it beautiful. Life on Earth is important. Just because it is illusion doesn’t mean life in the world is unimportant.
True, life in the world isn’t everything, yet it is something. Living in illusion has a part to play, or why would illusion be? Being born is an event! The new soul on Earth is starting on an adventure that is unequaled. You who come to Earth are adventurers. You are on a mission. You may be sleeping, yet you are in the process of awakening while you are on Earth. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It is a privilege to serve evolution on a day-to-day basis on this imagined planet and in this imagined life.
It is so real, so down-to-earth, how can it be illusion? When you remember where you came from and in Whose Image you are made, do you not know that you are a miracle? For Heaven’s sakes, of course, you are a bona fide miracle. I will tell you that what I do is make miracles. I sit in Eternity and Infinity. And you and the world emanate from My thought from where all things are possible, where everything is possible, even when all of the possible is illusion.
Infinity and Eternity are the field of all possibilities. The possibilities are played out, however, in illusion. Illusions are dreams, beloved, and you know I tell you to dream. I believe in you, even though your individuality is illusion. I tell you to dream and to dream big. I must believe in dreams and dreams within a dream. Dream on. Pull your dreams down from Heaven the way you would pull a white screen down and see yourself projected on it.
Yes, you are on display on Earth. This is the Greatest Show, the Greatest Show on Earth. It is always new, this show. It is the same story, yet it is always new. How many ways can a human life play out? Infinite are the ways. And, so, even on solid Earth, beloved, you are acting from Infinity.
Since accurately, We are One, you and I, I am having a Grand Dream of Light Showering from Me in Infinite Ways, I must be the Dreamer. You are definitely My Dream. The world is My Dream. You are My Dream, and I love you.
It must also be that I love a mystery as your individuality unfolds mystery.
I am secure in the knowledge that you are dreaming. You have fears. I have none. I have wonderment.
You see bad actors, and you dream of resulting emotions and such. I am always aware that you are in a dream. You forget life on Earth is a dream playing out on a screen. Yes, you are in a dimension, or We could say in suspended animation, suspended in color, seeming to move on a white background called a screen, seeming to use all the senses and often making no sense at all or making even nonsense.
Through it all, you come out unscathed, you understand. There is no danger. You come out from this dream untouched. All the imagined clouds disappear, and stars come out, and you remember where you really belong when you wake up from the dream you so entered into.
You played a part, and you played it well. And now you wake up to where you have been all the time as you thought you were somewhere else. You never left Home, and yet you came back, and the dream never was.
