The world is a better place because I am here.

GOOD MORNING!!!
DEAR DIARY: Well, here we are, back to MONDAY, my favorite day of the week.
We had a great capoeira class yesterday!
It was just me and charles this time, but it was still great. He started teaching me some rhythms from the berimbau, namely ANGOLA and SAO BENTO GRANDE. Note: there are 2 forms of this rhythm played, a slower rhythmn called SAO BENTO GRANDE DE ANGOLA, and SAO BENTO GRANDE DA REGIONAL, made popular by Mestre BIMBA and his students. More on him later.
During class yesterday, 2 men came to talk to us. One was a music conductor, who was impressed with us playing berimbaus (even though I still learning to play it, and still sometimes hit my fingers instead of the string). After we left, we did some movements, i.e. variations of the ginga, various negativas, Aus, etc. (If you want to know what I'm talking about, come join us, we're in Griffith Park from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.)
Anyway, halfway through the movement protion of the class the second man came by to talk to us. He was a doctor, originally from the IVORY COAST who teaches at UCLA I think it was, and we had a very interesting discussion about Africa.
After this message from Humanity Team, I'll tell you some of what we talked about.
HUMANITY'S TEAM
What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived.
It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.
Lo importante en la vida no es el simple hecho de haber vivido.
Lo que realmente le da un significado es la diferencia que hayamos hecho en la vida de otros.

WORLD HISTORY
So, what did we talk about? Well, among other things, we touched on African Civilizations a bit:
And about how there was a concerted effort by certain people to make sure that this information NEVER saw the light of day:
In the near future, I'm gonna be posting more about African history.
And now, I have a treat for you. This short film is called, "CATMAN". It's because of this film, among others, that I fell in love with capoeira Angola.
And this is charles and I playing in MacArthur park a couple of weeks ago.
Not bad after 1 month of training, huh?
So, if any of you want to learn this beautiful art, come join us in Griffith Park from 12:00PM to 3:00PM.
And starting next month, there will be classes at the AGAPE CENTER, @ 5700 Buckingham Pkwy, Culver City, CA 90230.
Now, I'm gonna end this blog with the most beautiful song in the whole, entire world.
