HAPPY THURSDAY!!!

Spirit is my comfort and my strength.
~Jonathan-Lockwood Huie

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

Is there a higher purpose in life than to love? Isn’t love the thing that every human being is hard-wired to desire the most? Think of a baby. Don’t they thrive on love and wither in its absence? Don’t they bring out the love in everyone they contact? This is such an obvious and universal trait of humanity that it is immediately obvious to everyone. Yet when we look at the world do we see the majority of the population being constantly bathed in love?

It seems as a culture we have gotten sidetracked from this central purpose of love. Instead of enjoying loving relationships with everyone we contact we try to compare and compete with each other. We seem to be very selective about with whom we choose to share love, and everything becomes based on ownership. I love my child, my dog, my car but I hate yours. We have closed our hearts to 99.99% of the living beings on the planet and soon we forget how to love even ourselves. We feel separated from the universal love of the cosmos and create lives of loneliness punctuated by brief glimpses of what we call love.

What would happen if we truly embraced the understanding of the energetic connection between all parts of the world? If we saw everyone as being part of the same loving essence that created everything, wouldn’t our attitude change? Loving the creator (by whatever name) is a natural tendency in all cultures. Why don’t we recognize that all of creation is loveable and that it is love that connects us all to the creator and the entire creation? There is nothing else that will fulfill our deepest desires than loving constantly, completely and unconditionally.

Johnny Barnes born John James Adolphus Mills on June 23, 1924, is a Bermuda native found waving to passing traffic at the Foot of the Lane roundabout in Hamilton, Bermuda, from roughly 3:45 am to 10 am, every workday, rain or shine. A Bermuda institution mentioned in several guidebooks and profiled in a documentary film, he is known for waving and saying "I love you, God loves you," to passing commuters during the morning rush hour into Hamilton. Due to the unique layout of the island and its roads, nearly all drivers at rush hour coming from the western and southern areas of the island pass Barnes at the roundabout.

Barnes, now an elderly pensioner, was an electrician by trade and worked on the Bermuda Railroad as an electrician until the railroad closed in 1948. He then became a bus driver. Barnes was fond of waving to people while driving the bus, and would occasionally sit and wave to people on his breaks or when coming to work.

One day in approximately 1986, Barnes stopped at the Crow Lane roundabout took up waving to traffic. He has been there almost every day since, and local radio stations report receiving frantic calls when Barnes is not at his unofficial post. He is occasionally joined by people, sometimes costumed, waving signs to promote a charity, event, or business.

In the 2011 short-subject documentary, Mr. Happy Man, Barnes identifies himself as a religious man, a Seventh-Day Adventist who is motivated to share God's love for everyone. Though Barnes will pray with visitors to his post if requested, he is not known as a religious proselytizer.

In November 1998, a group of local businessmen unveiled a life-size bronze statue of Barnes blowing kisses in the air. The statue is located on Crow Lane just up from the roundabout. Although there were objections to spending $70,000 to build a statue to a man still living, Barnes said in Mr. Happy Man that he appreciated the gesture while he was still alive, saying he wouldn't be able to enjoy it if he were dead.

Barnes was married in 1949 and still lives with his wife. His wife has a cheery disposition because he (Johnny) has "covered her with honey" since they were married.

“Promise Yourself

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds. To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.” ― Christian D. Larson, Your Forces and How to Use Them

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

Love is not an act you perform. Love is greater than that. Love is not a means to an end. Love is not a business deal. Love is meant to be given yet not given as a practice, and, still, just the same, you may need to practice. Love is to be given for no other reason than that it is to be given. And that is your purpose: To find love in your heart and give it away.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

A Vision for Our Soul's Intention

We see a world where we are living in alignment with the bigger Intention we made before we came into these bodies, before we came to this Earth; where we have realized that our daily intentions are in us because of desires we brought with us when we were born to this life; and that our comfort or discomfort here on Earth is caused by whether we are moving toward or away from our bigger Intention - our Soul's Intention..

We see a world where all people have discovered their individual calling - their Soul's Intention - and are living, working, playing, and loving in alignment with it.

"I don't like to be called a Martial Artist because like I just said, I'm not really a martial artist. I just use the martial arts to help achieve my goals in survival, and health (and when I say health, I mean physical, mental, and spiritual).

And honestly, there are certain "issues" in the Martial Arts Universe that keep me from wanting to wear the label of, "Martial Artist".

Besides, In my opinion, a lot of martial artists, especially here in the U.S., tend to be a very strange group of people. But I DO love to read about the arts, watch martial art movies, and learning more about the Martial Arts."
I typed those words above in the martial arts and survival section of this blog, I was talking about a certain aspect of the Martial Arts that I want to talk about today. You see, when you're studying the martial arts, there are many pitfalls, problems and scams you will encounter in the martial arts subculture.

While there IS good training out there, there's a lot more bad training than there is good. And you need to know about both before you give somebody your money.

Now to be honest with you, this is a very difficult subject for me to talk about... which is why I'm not going to talk about it. I'll let the experienced Martial Artist, You Tube User WMPYR talk about it in detail... believe me, he does a better job at it that I can ever hope to.

As You know, especially if you read this blog, on valentine's day, there was a huge global activist movement called V-DAY, where men and women all around the world danced, in protest of violence against women and girls.

“Together on 14 February, we expressed our outrage and joy and our firm global call for a world where women are free and safe and cherished and equal. One Billion Rising brought together coalitions of groups and individuals that have never worked together before and galvanized new supporters and associations and masses of men who were not previously engaged, but now see violence as their issue. It did all of this while putting violence against women to the center of the global discussion. One Billion Rising has broken taboos, lifted the veil of silence, and inspired a radical outpouring of support to reveal the worldwide system of patriarchy, which sustains the violence. One Billion Rising has shown that violence against women is not a national, tribal, ethnic, or religious issue, but a global phenomenon, and that through this worldwide rising and support, survivors can be given the confidence of knowing that violence is not their fault.” – Eve Ensler

Well, it's SATURDAY, which means another awe - inspiring episode of ASK TEAL from Teal Scott.

Teal Scott is an extrasensory, esoteric who writes and teaches about spirituality, the meaning of life, and the road to health and happiness. You can find out more about her at her website: www.thespiritualcatalyst.com

VIDEO DESCRIPTION FROM YOU TUBE:
Published on Feb 16, 2013
In this ask teal episode, Teal shares a tip for how to live a happier life She explains that there is no need to push against what you do not like. Not only does doing that guarantee that you will get more of what you push against, it also guarantees that you will be very negatively focused and therefore live an unhappy life. You do not need to accept all of what someone says, regardless of whether or not it resonates with you. You also do not need to reject all of what someone says based on them saying something that you do not resonate with. The key is to: Pick and choose what resonates (what works for you) from what doesn't instead of either swallowing parts that you don't resonate with or throwing the whole thing away based on not resonating with one piece of it. We have something of value to learn from every single being who crosses our path. The trick is recognizing it. You can trust yourself to know what feels right to you. And what feels right to you will change. That is inevitable. As you learn more, experience different things and raise your vibration your perspective will change and you will resonate with different things. And so, you may throw out parts of information you have collected that no longer serve you and replace them with things that serve you better, keeping only those parts that still serve you. Collect the people, practices, things and beliefs, which add up to your happy life. Let go of the people, practices, things and beliefs that do not. You do not have to accept even the things you do not resonate with. You do not have to reject every part of something just because you do not resonate with part of it. Your life is a cocktail; a totally unique cocktail of things that work for you. Collect these ingredients that create your happy life. Let go of and stop focusing on the ingredients that do not. Create your own unique religion just for you, out of the bits and pieces of things that work for you personally.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

‘We are all One’ is more than a beautiful slogan. It is a precise description of the nature of Ultimate Reality. When you understand this, you begin experiencing life—and treating each other – in a new way. You see the relationship of all things differently. You notice the connectedness at a much higher level. Your awareness is expanded, your insight becomes very keen. You, quite literally, see in.
This increased ability to peer deeply into life allows you to look past the illusion and to recognize – to ‘know again,’ to re-cognize – your Reality. It is by this process that you remember Who You Really Are.

war·ri·or [wawr-ee-er, wawr-yer, wor-ee-er, wor-yer]
noun
1.a person engaged or experienced in warfare; soldier.

2.a person who shows or has shown great vigor, courage, or aggressiveness, as in politics or athletics. Origin:

If you've been in the Martial Arts for a while, you'll find many people who would like to believe in the idea that just because they practice the Martial Arts, they are some kind of Warriors.(I like to call them Wannabee Warriors).

But what exactly is a Warrior? I mean, throughout history, there have been many different types of warriors, all having different Codes of Honor that they live by (And in case you're wondering, yes, there is a Warrior Creed that I follow and try to live up to also, though I wouldn't call myself a warrior).

But if you really try to define what a warrior is, there seems to be no one answer to that question. In fact, there seems to be many answers, almost as many answers as people you ask.

I typed that in my sidebar a long time ago, in an attempt to try to explain the concept of what a warrior is. The video below is the first of a PLAYLIST that I made of warriors throughout history, to try to explain it a little more...

Full Text:
What is a warrior? A warrior is a way of life, a way of thinking, a way of being. Carlos Castaneda says we choose only once, to be warriors or ordinary. We choose only once. Because choosing to be a warrior alters your fundamental approach to life. While others will view everything as a blessing or a curse, you see only challenges. And a warrior lives to overcome challenges.
Every warrior has a code, an ethos. It is an invisible thread that connects him to all of his warrior brothers and sisters since the beginning of time. Steven Pressfield asks "How do we find our true calling, our soul companions, our destiny? He answers, "In this task, our mightiest ally is the warrior ethos."
A warrior never hopes, but he must have faith. Hope is powerless, useless... The longer we sit and hope the more time we waste, because the universe gives only what is sought, what is believed! But yet a warrior must have faith. Because at times not every path is clear, and not every enemy a fiery dragon. When the forest is dark the warrior holds his ground with faith that if he remembers the warrior code, the light to illuminate the darkness will come. For the warrior, the body is as important as the mind, because the two are inseparable. Danielle Bolleli writes " A person who knows there is a wild wolf living under the skin has less reason to be intimidated by reality. Even when the power of the mind is in doubt, the body can provide tangible proof."
A warrior is not an ascetic. He does not deny himself the pleasures of conquest simply for the sake of denying them. He realizes that in denying oneself it is easy to think he is doing great things, when really he is just focused on himself. But neither is the warrior attached to these pleasures. He can walk away from them at any time, and sometimes he does, just to prove it to himself.
The warrior is a natural leader, and he leads under one principle-- Follow me. When Alexander the great was threatened with mutiny after years of a brutal campaign in India, he stripped down naked, so all the men could see his scars. "Bring forth a man who has bled more than me, and we will go home." No one came forth, because it was Alexander, riding his horse Bucephalus with a double plumed helmet who led every charge. Instead, his men erupted in cheers and pounded their shields.
The Warrior is a Believer. As Paulo Coelho says, "Because he believes in miracles, miracles begin to happen. Because he is sure that his thoughts can change his life, his life begins to change. Because he is certain that he will find love, love appears."
A warrior is highly tuned to sense danger, but he does not fear. He does not fear because pain is temporary and death is an illusion. What is eternal cannot die, and the warrior knows that he will laugh, he will love, and he will fight for all eternity, in this world or some other.
If he errs, if he wanders, if he indulges in self pity, if he complains... He does not despair. He knows that he is human, and he remembers the choice he made. He picks his sword back up from the ground, and resumes the path of the warrior.
A warrior fights for one reason alone: love. Love of life, love of what is good, love of family, love of tribe, and love of our infinite soul on the quest for impeccability. He lets love swell in his heart, flushing through every cell in his being until he cannot help but proclaim, like Cyrano De Bergerac, "I am going to be a storm -- a flame -- I need to fight whole armies alone. I have ten hearts! I have a hundred arms! I feel too strong to war with mortals. Bring me GIANTS!"

"Who is the happy Warrior? Who is he That every man in arms should wish to be? It is the generous spirit, who, when brought Among the tasks of real life, hath wrought Upon the plan that pleased his boyish thought: Whose high endeavors are an inward light That makes the path before him always bright: Who, with a natural instinct to discern What knowledge can perform, is diligent to learn; And in himself posses his own desire;" -William Wordsworth

HAPPY THURSDAY!!!

~Jonathan-Lockwood Huie

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

Love is the most important aspect of life. It is time to experience it on a completely different level than ever before. It begins with giving your complete attention and presence to the people you have a special relationship with. Instead of letting worries or a urge to get back to business take you away from people, truly listen and give your full attention to receiving and expressing love. Nothing is ever more important than this. Of course, making a good income is also a way of expressing love in providing for the loved ones who depend on you. A balance is needed. Finding away to make a good living doing what you are passionate about and that will share your special gift of love with others is ideal. When you can open your heart completely to the love that is always surrounding you, then you will be able to authentically share your love with the wider world. When you incessantly seek love in everything you do, then soon there will be no separation and nothing will seem like work. Your entire life will simply be sharing love in a beautiful variety of fulfilling experiences.

I've come across this video by GRACIE BREAKDOWN describing strategies to prevail in a Multiple Attacker situation which actually makes sense, which is very suprising to me since Rorion Gracie has said before in print more than once that it's next to IMPOSSIBLE to prevail in such a situation...

Anyway, here it is, with the description below.

VIDEO DESCRIPTION FROM YOU TUBE:

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu isn't merely a martial art confined by a limited number of techniques, but rather an all encompassing system of survival guided by a collection of timeless combat principles; the most important of which is that of energy efficiency. This concept of maximum effectiveness with minimal effort is what enable Grand Master Helio Gracie to modify and adapt the original Japanese Jiu-Jitsu techniques until they were effective against giants, and it is also the core concept when dealing with multiple opponents.

In this video, Rener Gracie (@RenerGracie) and Brian "T-City' Ortega (@BrianTCity) discuss and demonstrate the three universal principles of self-defense as taught by the Gracie Academy, so you have a better chance of survival if you ever find yourself in a multiple attacker situation.

Principle 1: Diffuse the "Combative Energy" of the interaction.
Principle 2: Evade their attack with effective distance management.
Principle 3: Attack first and attack fast.

Bonus Principle: If you carry a firearm on you at all times, use it.

If you agree with what's taught, share it with your friends, you may save a life. If you don't agree with what's taught, make your own video and share your secrets.

I don't stick fight, I don't knife fight, I don't sword fight, I don't gun fight, or whatever.

I SURVIVE, the aforementioned methods are merely the tools I use to accomplish my goal. If you come at me looking for a "fight", you've come to the wrong place.

You've come to a place where I'm going to do EVERYTHING in my power to make sure I SURVIVE.

I've written that on my sidebar, to show that my main reason to practice the martial arts is self defense. A self defense situation is VERY DIFFERENT from a sport situation.

I saw the video below on facebook a few days ago, and I thought I would talk a little bit about it. I would like all of you reading this to watch this video and pay attention to the meaning of mindset and the realities of self defense and sport. This video is for those people that simply don't understand that there is a huge difference, and this video explains it clearly.

Now the video above seems to pick on BJJ, BUT THE FACT IS THAT THIS CAN APPLY TO ANY MARTIAL ART!!! Now let me be clear: I have the utmost respect of BJJ In fact, even the GRACIE FAMILY knows that there is a huge difference between self defense and sport. Don't think so? Well, I posted a link below to a video of Ryron and Rener Gracie, speaking about some of the differences between Street Jiu-Jitsu and Sport Jiu-Jitsu. Now I posted this video a while back, but I couldn't find it.

HAPPY TUESDAY!!!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

A Vision for Angels

We envision a world where a partnership based upon mutual caring and trust between humanity and the angelic realms is established; where humanity has evolved to the point where we have broken through the barriers, lifted the veils, parted the mists, and glimpsed through into the dimensions where our angelic neighbors reside.

We see us living in a world that is so beautiful, so abundant, so heavenly because of the strong connection we now share with the angels. The angels, ancestors, and ascended masters are helping us every step of the way since we have risen above our old, negative, harmful ways. We are truly blessed now that we have built a strong foundation of respect for one another.

And we see a world where, with each passing day, we learn to love more, to love better, to love deeper now that we are teamed up with the angels.

O.K., I was going to post another video up, but I think this video of ANGEL ACADEMY has a more important message...

"It's not a mistake - it's a lesson. Everything is unfolding at the right pace." That's what a friend said to me today. And I believe she's right. I am where I am, and you are where you are because there are lessons we need to learn. And if you don't think there's an important lesson for you to learn right now, then you'll ignore it, or you'll reject it. Either way the choice is yours. But you can't move forward unless you the learn the lesson. The ancestors suggest we pay attention."

HAPPY MONDAY!!!

I Release Myself From All Guilt.
~Jonathan-Lockwood Huie

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

Well, here we are back to Monday, everybody's day to hate on. But it's MY favorite day, so I'm starting it with a smile and a positive attitude. So,

I HOPE ALL OF YOU MAKE IT A WONDERFUL WEEK.

Make your prayer, ‘thy will be done’, then put your Self in service to God/One Presence. Be ready for a miracle flow that will enfold you and extend out beyond your furthest reach. Even the largest boulders will be removed from your path.

Well, it's MONDAY, which means another episode of AWARENESS, with Anthony De Mello.

“‎"I have no fear of losing u, for you aren't an object of my property, or anyone else's. I love you as you are, without attachment, without fears, without conditions, without egoism, trying not to absorb you. I love you freely because I love your freedom, as well as mine.” ― Anthony de Mello

I saw this little story on my Facebook Wall yesterday, and I thought I'd share it with you.

An 87 Year Old College Student Named Rose The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t already know.
I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned round to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me
with a smile that lit up her entire being.
She said, “Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I’m eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?” I laughed and enthusiastically responded, “Of course you may!” and she gave me a giant squeeze. “Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?” I asked.
She jokingly replied, “I’m here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids…” “No seriously,” I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age. “I always dreamed of having a college education and now I’m getting one!” she told me.
After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the
next three months, we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this “time machine”
as she shared her wisdom and experience with me. Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up. At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I’ll never forget what she taught us. She was
introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, “I’m sorry I’m so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I’ll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know.”
As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, “We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day.
You’ve got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don’t even know it!There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.
If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don’t do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old.
If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn’t take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change.
Have no regrets.
The elderly usually don’t have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those
with regrets.”
She concluded her speech by courageously singing “The Rose.”
She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives.
At the year’s end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died
peacefully in her sleep.
Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it’s
never too late to be all you can possibly be .When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they’ll really enjoy it!
These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE.
REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS
OPTIONAL.

HAPPY SUNDAY!!!

I release the familiar that I may better discover my inspiring future.
~Jonathan-Lockwood Huie

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

Yesterday was ONE OF THOSE DAYS... You know, when you end up feeling like you shouldn't have gotten out of bed that morning... Yeah, like that. First, I forget my bus fare at home, so I had to take the second bus. Then, the Blue Line had to detour because somebody decided to shoot a movie scene, and they blocked off the area around the 7th st. metro center. And to top it off, the driver could have let us off in the front side of the station where a crowd of people could more easily get in, but NOOOOOOOO, he had to drive all the way around the block so he could let us off at a back entrance where we were packed like sardines trying to get to the Red Line. Needless to say, I didn't watch the Chinatown parade. I got up there in time for it to start, but I just wasn't in a parade watching mood. But it was pretty cool going through Chinatown going through the markets, sampling the food... But anyway, I went back after a half and hour or so.

On the way back, there was delay after delay. First, we had to wait, and WAIT at Grand station because... I don't know! And all the while, the train was getting more and more packed. With us packed in there like sardines, it was no wonder when we got to florence station, and there was another DELAY because some train broke down or something, there was a fight in the back of the train, which just made us wait LONGER. Then when the train got to Compton station, there was YET ANOTHER DELAY because near the station, 2 Crip Gangs were fighting, and people kept opening the doors to get a better look.

But all in all, I noticed that I wasn't really angry about my situation at all. I don't know why, but I was pretty calm. In fact, I felt really lucky. The time on my transfer ran out because of all the delays, and if an officer caught me, I would have gotten a ticket I couldn't afford.

So, all's good in the neighborhood.

Let's see what TODAY has in store for me...

Some of you say that this is your basic instinct. It s called the ‘survival instinct,’ and it is this cultural myth that has formed much of your societal ethic, creating many of your group behaviors.

Yet your ‘basic instinct’ is not survival but rather, fairness, oneness, and love. This is the basic instinct of all sentient beings everywhere. It is your cellular memory. It is your inherent nature. Thus is exploded your first cultural myth. You are not basically evil.. - Conversations with God, book 3 by Neale Donald Walsch

HAPPY SATURDAY!!!

I Receive ALL of Life with Thanksgiving.
~Jonathan-Lockwood Huie

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

Today starts festivities in L.A. chinatown for CHINESE NEW YEAR, and I'm going to go! I might stay there all day, or I might just stay an hour or 2, but after 2 whole years of missing the celebrations, goddammit I'm going to celebrate!

Make joy the cause

+++++++++++++++++++

Don't wait for joy to be a result of what you do. Make joy the cause of what you do.

Striving for good things will not make you happy. Let go of the striving, be happy, live that happiness, and the good things will come.

Be determined and ambitious, but not out of a desperate sense of need. Do it out of a love for the possibilities.

Don't think of yourself as merely trying. See that everything you do is moving you forward.

Your perspective makes all the difference, so choose a positive, forward-looking one. Be a living affirmation of the beauty and value of your life.

Make real, authentic joy your cause. And make your results truly spectacular.

Now, since it's SATURDAY, it's time for another episode of ASK TEAL, with Teal Scott.

VIDEO DESCRIPTION FROM YOU TUBE:

Published on Feb 9, 2013
Most of us have a clear idea of the goal that we are headed towards. We want to be enlightened. We want to be absent of ego. Most of all, we want to be free of suffering. We have a picture in our heads of what we think that enlightenment looks like; our perfect image of the spiritually enlightened person. But what most people don't know is that this image we are holding on to, is a lie that we keep telling ourselves. Enlightenment is not like that. Enlightenment is no kind of retirement from life itself. It is no kind of retirement from the ups and downs. We create the illusion of enlightened retirement from the ups and downs when we feel resistant to the ups and downs. We invent the idea that enlightenment means perfect bliss twenty-four hours a day only when we are suffering and we want an end to that suffering. Enlightenment is only the beginning, because after enlightenment you still have to engage with physical life and physical life was designed to be a means for creating expansion.
Physical life is a learning hologram. No one who is alive is exempt from expansion and so, no one is exempt from contrast. And as long as there is contrast, there is the recognition of what is unwanted as well as the recognition of what is wanted present within you. If we were to reach a state where we were magically transformed into a permanent state of bliss, it would mean ended-ness. There could be no further expansion from that place and that would not serve the universe at large. What serves the universe at large is eternal expansion. So even once you have attained enlightenment, you still have to integrate what it has taught you. You still have to integrate the spiritual awareness you have achieved into your day-to-day life. Even though the samsara waves never stop coming, the more enlightened you become, the more your thoughts change. Your perspective changes to match the vibration of source perspective. And so the meaning of your experiences changes. The way you think about and deal with the ups and downs is what changes and so those ups and downs are not experienced the same way that they once were.
There is no shame in struggling. Having problems is not a character flaw. You have not failed if you have a bad day. Buddha had bad days. Jesus had bad days. Muhammad had bad days. You will not meet a single physically manifested being (whether they are an ascended master or not) that is exempt from contrast and so you will not meet a single physically manifested being who is in alignment twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. To expect this from anyone is cruelty. To feel embarrassment or shame if you are out of alignment is cruelty. To expect yourself to be in alignment twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week is cruelty. And it's time that we stop perpetuating cruelty in ourselves as well as within this spiritual community that we ourselves are responsible for creating. Spiritual practice is just that... It is a practice. It is still a practice for those who are spiritual masters. Alignment is something that we have to maintain. It is not a prize that we reach and then we are granted alignment forever no matter what we think or do. Alignment and enlightenment is not something that is done to us once we prove ourselves worthy. It is something we constantly maintain. We choose to come into alignment or not in each moment. And denial is no kind of alignment. So the question is: Are you bypassing yourself?

Well boys and girls, Last night was one for the ages. First I went to the Artwalk in Downtown L.A., and maybe it's because I came a little early, but to be honest, it was dead.

L.A. RISING FOR WOMEN

Now let me pause for a bit to tell you a little bit about what this event was all about.

ABOUT ONE BILLION RISING:
This global activist movement, V-DAY, was founded 14 years ago by Tony award winner Eve Ensler, and has continued to gain the support of politicians, artists, writers, celebrities, thinkers and non-profit organizations, such including the Greater LA Chapter (USCN) for UN Women. The ‘V’ in V-Day stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina. This year’s campaign is entitled “One Billion Rising,” and has reached millions of activists in 160 countries since its launch in February 2012.

  ONE BILLION RISING IS:
One Billion Rising is a global strike. An invitation to dance. A call to men and women to refuse to participate in the status quo until rape and rape culture ends. A call to action, in lieu of the fact that one in three women on this planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. An act of solidarity, demonstrating to women the commonality of both their struggles and their power in numbers. A refusal to accept violence against women and girls. A revolution of one billion women joining together on the same day.

CLICK HERE TO SEE VIDEOS ABOUT V-DAY

Click here for a special message from the founder of V-Day, Eve Ensler.

That's right, we were joined by many, many groups all over the world, 193 countries I think. Click HERE for the lineup. Anyway, we were all there for the common purpose. To dance, celebrate, and to shout out in one voice:

I SAY NO TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

I SAY NO TO RAPE AND SEX CRIMES

For more information, check out their Website: http://onebillionrising.org/

On another note, The Senate easily passed its Violence Against Women Act reauthorization bill on Tuesday, officially punting the issue to the House, where Republican leaders still haven't signaled how they plan to proceed.

The bill passed 78 to 22. It already had 62 cosponsors, which ensured its passage, but it picked up additional support from a handful of Republicans.

Now why anybody would vote against this bill is beyond me, but here's some Senators who did vote against it: John Barrasso (Wyo.), Roy Blunt (Mo.), John Boozman (Ark.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Cornyn (Texas), Ted Cruz (Texas), Mike Enzi (Wyo.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Chuck Grassley (Iowa), Orrin Hatch (Utah), James Inhofe (Okla.), Mike Johanns (Neb.), Ron Johnson (Wisc.), Mike Lee (Utah), Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Rand Paul (Ky.), Jim Risch (Idaho), Pat Roberts (Kansas), Marco Rubio (Fla.), Jeff Sessions (Ala.), John Thune (S.D.) and Tim Scott (S.C.).

Now, back to my night.

Well, basically, I danced, I mingled, took some silly pictures:

L.A. RISING FOR WOMEN:CLICK HERE TO SEE THE PICS!

I also met this amazing artist painting a masterpeice close to the door. Her name is LYNN ELISHAW, and she has a web site, (I think this is her website) www.paintingintongues.com And I also met a new friend named Sandra, who was kind enough to walk me to the bus stop and keep me company until the bus came. It took a little while to come; I speculated that the driver might have been chilling and smoking a fat joint somewhere and lost track of time. And I swear, when the bus did come, the driver DID look like me might have been doing just that. One of these days, I'm gonna make some blog posts about some of the shit that goes on in the buses and the train. I had many experiences riding public transportation, some beautiful, some downright UGLY.

As usual, I couldn't stay till the end of the show, so I didn't see all the acts. In case you were wondering, Here's a list of those who played at the event: Andrea Schell

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

Where There is Love, Nothing is Missing.
~Jonathan-Lockwood Huie

Well, today's the big day. The day which I spent the last 7 days building up for.

IT'S VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

And once again, I don't have a girlfriend or wife to spend the day with... I know, I'm pathetic... but hey, I'm not that romantic anyway.

But then, neither was Valentine's Day in the beginning, that is, if you believe this article:

VALENTINE'S DAY: IT'S GORY, UNROMANTIC, SECRET HISTORY

But in this day and age Valentine's Day is a day of Love, and Romance. So, let's celebrate it as it is, shall we?

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself.

Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are.

The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face.

In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon.

You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.”-Bob Marley
IS THIS LOVE? BY BOB MARLEY

And besides, EVERYBODY needs love in their life, right?

Now like I said, I don't have a girlfriend or wife to spend my valentine's Day with. So, I decided to take the oppurtunity to share with you my love for ALL women. As mothers, women provide the lessons and care that have enabled generations of children to embrace the opportunities of life, and give us the love that comforts and sustains us, and the strength that enables us to the challenges we face. In this day and age, Women thrive in just about every profession, and are Homemakers and Heads of Households. These women are using their talents in every sector of our society, striving to help all people to look forward with hope and faith in the future.

And there are those women who go above and beyond, and use their amazing talents to help change their world around them, despite the HUGE opposition they sometimes face.

Like MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA, who founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation, which in 2012 consisted of over 4,500 sisters and is active in 133 countries.

And Like REBECCA LOLOSOLI, who with a dozen Samburu women in northern Kenya, started a community called Umoja Uaso, which has become a safe haven for women escaping physical abuse, and an advocate for women's rights in nearby villages in their community.

And SAMPAT PAL, the leader of a gang of vigilantes called Gulabi or 'Pink', Gang, who are on a mission to ensure that those born into the lowest caste have an education, avoid child marriages, and earn a decent wage in India.

And let's not forget MALALA YOUSAFZAI, Pakistani school pupil and education activist who didn't let getting shot by the Taliban stop her from demanding that all the girls in her community get education.

Or those brave young women from Kenya who dumped thousands of years of tradition on it's head by REFUSING TO BE CIRCUMSIZED.

And this is just a small taste of what women are capable of.

“Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.” ― Nicholas Sparks, A Walk to Remember

“There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment.” ― Sarah Dessen, The Truth About Forever
HELLO, BY LIONEL RITCHIE

So, who is my special Valentine this year? Well sorry, I'm not gonna tell you. But I will ask them (There are 2 actually) if they will be my valentine when I send them this post. they'll both probably say no, but it's all good.

And finally, I want to end this post by going back to the beginning, with the song below, which is about making love for the first time, by the amazing DANNI EL.

TO EVERYBODY OUT THERE IN CYBERSPACE,

If you have the eyes of love, you just see love wherever you go. The trees are made with love. The animals are made with love. The water is made with love....When you perceive with love, you become one with the birds, with nature, with a person, with everything.
