HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

I am the painter of my heart.
~Jonathan-Lockwood Huie

GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!!!

Most of the fears we face today are not created by external stimuli but rather are generated from within. Except for the occasional truly life-threatening fear that few of us face unless we try to climb a mountain or skydive, our fears tend to be merely internal. We are afraid of contacting certain types of people. We are afraid of confronting issues in our relationships. We are afraid to step out and speak our truth to the widest audience possible. We allow our fear of the future to prevent us from taking the actions in the present that would create a wonderful future.

Fears do not go away by trying to ignore or hide from them. They are quite easily overcome by recognizing them and exposing them for what they are, simply mental concoctions that have no true basis in reality. When you see them in this way it becomes possible to allow the fear-based thoughts to simply pass through without giving them any labels or value. By simply seeing them as passing thoughts that have no basis in reality it becomes possible to laugh at your fears and act in spite of them. Why not write that book? Why not start to speak out? Why not share your gifts with the world in a big way? Why not share more of yourself in a way that may impact many even though it might possibly offend a few? Why not start something new, even if there is a chance it might not succeed? Why not love yourself fully and show the world what an exalted being you are?

The video below is about a village called Umoja, which is a women's only village in northern Kenya. In 1990, a dozen Samburu women living in northern Kenya left abusive marriages and started a community where they could take charge of their income, their children's education, and their right to happiness. They are now a safe haven for women escaping physical abuse, and they advocate for women's rights in nearby villages. They sell their traditional beadwork locally and around the world.

But I'll let the video and article below go into more detail about the village.

Here's an article about umoja from PARLOUR MAGAZINE.

ABOUT ONE BILLION RISING:
This global activist movement, V-DAY, was founded 14 years ago by Tony award winner Eve Ensler, and has continued to gain the support of politicians, artists, writers, celebrities, thinkers and non-profit organizations, such including the Greater LA Chapter (USCN) for UN Women. The ‘V’ in V-Day stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina. This year’s campaign is entitled “One Billion Rising,” and has reached millions of activists in 160 countries since its launch in February 2012.

ONE BILLION RISING IS:
One Billing Rising is a global strike. An invitation to dance. A call to men and women to refuse to participate in the status quo until rape and rape culture ends. A call to action, in lieu of the fact that one in three women on this planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. An act of solidarity, demonstrating to women the commonality of both their struggles and their power in numbers. A refusal to accept violence against women and girls. A revolution of one billion women joining together on the same day.

We have a choice whether or not to believe the voices we hear within our own minds, just as we have a choice of what to believe and agree within the dream of the planet.
